Cake Dougnuts


These were great for dessert. I really liked tossing them in the powdered sugar instead of making an icing specifically for them. It was quick and great for my sweet tooth! I did not take photos because I forgot but I am sure you can use your imagination!

Cake Doughnuts

From Better Homes and Gardens ‘New cook book the 10th edition’

3 1/4 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1/2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 beaten eggs

2/3 cups sugar

1 teaspoon vannilla

2/3 cups milk

1/4 cup butter

In a mixing bowl stir together 2 1/4 cups of flour, baking powder, cinnomon, salt and nutmeg. In a large bowl combine eggs, sugar, and vannila; beat with an electric mixer until thick. Combine milk and butter. Add flour and mixture and milk mixture alternately to egg mixture, beating until just blended. Stir in 1 cup of remaining flour. Cover dough, and chill for 2 hours.

On a lightly floured surface roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2 1/2 inch dougnut cutter and re-roll as needed.

Fry 2-3 dougnuts at a time with the oil at 375 degrees aprox. 1 min or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. I tossed the dougnuts in a bag with powdered sugar once they were slighly cooler.
