Oatmeal cookies

Oatmeal cookieI have not baked in a while. This is due to the fact I have been eating a lot of Halloween candy :). I got this recipe out of Better Homes and Gardens. I have changed the recipe because I wanted to use self rising flour.

Oatmeal Cookies

3/4 c butter

1 3/4 c all purpose flour ( I used self rising flour)

1 c packed brown sugar

1/2 c sugar

1 egg

If you use all purpose flour then you will also need to add 1 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp baking soda

1 tsp vanilla

2 c rolled oats

Optional : 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon , 1/4 tsp ground cloves

In a mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high for 30 seconds. Add about half the flour, brown sugar, sugar, egg, baking powder, vannilla, and baking soda. I only used self rising flour, brown sugar, sugar, egg, and vanilla. If you want to add the cloves and cinnomon you can. Beat until it is combined and then add the remaining flour.

Spoon on to greased cookie sheet  and bake at 375 for 10 min.
